Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 Tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Add the sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and flour to a medium saucepan, whisking together until most of the clumps are gone.
  • Pour in the milk and place the pan over medium heat. Whisk together until the mixture looks like hot chocolate.
  • Continuously whisk until the mixture begins to boil, then continue cooking for 5-8 minutes. Stir frequently until the mixture thickens and has a consistency similar to gravy.
  • Remove pan from heat and add the butter and vanilla extract, mixing until melted and smooth.
