Old-Fashioned Salmon Patties

These crispy and flavorful salmon patties made with simple pantry staples, for a quick, budget-friendly dinner that's ready in 20 minutes.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 14.75 oz canned salmon no skin
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  • Stir together until well combined.
  • Form into patties, about 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick and 3 inches in diameter. We got 6 patties.
  • Cook in a large skillet over medium heat, using 1-2 Tablespoons of oil to grease the pan.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, so that the patties browned to your desired doneness.

Tips & Substitutions
  • Salmon: Use canned pink salmon. Remove skin and large bones if needed.
  • Crumbs: Breadcrumbs, crushed crackers (Ritz or saltines), or panko all work.
  • Seasoning: Salt and pepper, or add Old Bay, dill, or green onion.
  • Oil: Fry in butter or your favorite oil.
  • Cook evenly: Scoop equal portions and fry in a hot skillet for a crispy crust. Flip gently once.
  • Make ahead: Shape patties and refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • Storage: Refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze for later.
