Prep Tips:
  • You can customize this recipe for your own tastes. For example, I love onions, so I used plenty of fresh diced onions. If you aren’t an onion person, you could use a teaspoon of dried onion instead or omit it all together.
  • Our recipe called for ground beef. Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken if that sounds better to you.
  • You can also customize your sauce. BBQ sauce is great. You could also try an Italian flavored sauce with mozzarella cheese or something like a Sloppy Joe sauce.
  • The recipe calls for the smaller biscuits that come to 10 in a can. I had the big ones on hand, so I made that work by trimming all of them and making two extra biscuits from the pieces.
  • If you have the bigger biscuits, cut a fourth off each of them and make twelve cups. You can’t tell once the whole thing is baked.
  • I found that using a pound of ground meat as the recipe called for was more than needed. You’ll have extra BBQ mix that you could use for another meal.
