This fluffy, creamy Grasshopper Pie is a vintage-inspired no-bake dessert with minty filling, a chocolate crust, and Oreo topping, made alcohol-free for everyone to enjoy.

Grasshopper Pie
Grasshopper Pie is a fun, vintage-inspired dessert that takes its flavor from the classic Grasshopper cocktail. That iconic chilly minty green drink dates back to the early 1900s and became especially popular in the mid-century era. Made with crème de menthe, crème de cacao, and heavy cream, this retro drink is a sweet, minty treat that’s almost like dessert in a glass. It’s easy to see why the flavor combo stuck around — mint and chocolate are simply meant to be together!
For this recipe, we turned that nostalgic flavor into a fluffy, creamy pie that everyone can enjoy by making it non-alcoholic. The minty mousse filling is light, smooth, and creamy, layered into a rich chocolate crust that adds just the right cocoa flavor. A sprinkle of Oreos on top finishes it off with an extra pop of chocolate crunch in every bite.
Because it’s a no-bake dessert, this Grasshopper Pie is super easy to make and perfect for special occasions. It feels right at home on a holiday table for St. Patrick’s Day or Christmas, but it’s simple enough to whip up anytime you’re craving that classic chocolate-mint combination!

Helpful Kitchen Tools
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat together the pudding mix, marshmallow fluff, and milk until smooth. A whisk will work fine for this step.
- Mix in the mint extract and a green food coloring until you have your desired shade. The color will lighten up a bit when you add the Cool Whip.
- Fold in the whipped topping (Cool Whip) until well combined.
- Spoon the pudding mixture into the pie crust, smoothing with a spatula.
- Top with Oreo crumbs (as much as you like)
- Chill in freezer until fully set.

Prep Tips:
- Mint Extract – The traditional Grasshopper cocktail is made with Creme de Menthe liqueur, but mint extract will provide a similar flavor for this recipe. This is NOT the same thing as peppermint extract. While you can absolutely use peppermint extract in a pinch, the flavor will be slightly different. If using peppermint extract I recommend halving the amount, as the flavor is much stronger. Mint extract IS made with alcohol as a carrier, but the amount is small and spread out throughout two pies, so it is considered negligible.
- Milk – You can use milk, cream, coffee creamer, or even plant-based milk for the liquid part of the recipe, to make the pudding.
- Storage – Keep leftovers in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. You could also make this ahead of time, wrap tightly in plastic wrap or keep in an airtight container for up to 2 months. If freezing, wait to add the Oreos until serving. When ready to serve, run a metal pie spatula or knife under hot water for 30 seconds to make it easier to slice.
