Prep Tips

  • While you can enjoy this dip right away, I recommend refrigerating for a couple hours if you have time. The dip tastes fabulous chilled and this also gives all the flavors time to mingle.
  • Serve with your favorite potato chips, tortilla chips, or crackers for dipping. You can also serve with fresh veggies to keep things low carb!
  • Try these tasty garnish ideas to jazz up your dip and make it different: chopped green onions, shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese, bacon crumbles. You could even sprinkle with Parmesan cheese or sharp cheddar cheese for a fun contrast of flavors.
  • This jalapeno dip also makes a fantastic sandwich spread! Try it in place of regular mayo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Use Fresh Jalapeños Instead?

I love fresh jalapeños, but I recommend pickled version in this recipe for a couple reasons:

  • The pepper brine from the jar of pickled jalapeños adds a ton of flavor to this dip. It just won’t taste the same without it!
  • Pickled jalapeños are usually a little bit milder than fresh jalapeños. When making a dish that I plan to serve to guests, I try not to make it too spicy so that as many people as possible will enjoy it.

How Long Does Sour Cream Dip Last In The Fridge?

Dairy-based dips should always be kept refrigerated. When stored in an airtight container, this sour cream jalapeño dip should last for 3-4 days.

When serving at a party, be sure not to keep the dip out at room temperature for more than 2 hours, for food safety reasons.

  1. Jalapeno Dip.
This is great. I initially tried it as a dip. Easy to make and very good. But……
This is even better when spread on the inside of a flour tortilla when making a rolled up dish. I sliced, cooked a seasoned a flank steak, spread the inside of the tortilla with your dip, layered lettuce, steak, shredded cheese and a little homemade salsa. Wow. Better than you can get in a restaurant.

  2. 5 stars
This was great. Easy to make and very tasty. It’s great to spread on the inside of a tortilla when making burrito’s.
