Creamy Shrimp Dip
This classic creamy shrimp dip is one of those retro appetizers that never goes out of style and is always a crowd-pleaser. It’s made with simple ingredients and comes together in just minutes, making it perfect for those times when you need something quick but still want it to feel special. The texture is smooth, creamy, and packed with savory shrimp flavor and a little cajun kick in every bite.
Served chilled with crackers, chips, or pretzels, it’s the kind of dip that disappears fast at any gathering. It’s cool, rich, and just a little nostalgic, like something you’d spot on a holiday table or at a family party and go back for “just one more scoop” again and again.
Because it’s so easy to prep ahead of time, this shrimp dip is a great choice for parties, holidays, or game day spreads. Just mix, chill, and let the flavors meld together until you’re ready to serve, which means less last-minute stress and more time to actually enjoy the fun.

Prep Tips:
- Shrimp – The original vintage recipe calls for canned shrimp. We used frozen salad shrimp, which are pretty much the same thing. If using frozen shrimp, you’ll want to thaw first.
- Garnish Ideas – We topped our shrimp dip with a handful of extra little shrimp and more chopped green onions. You could top with other fresh herbs, such as parsley, or lemon zest, a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
- Serve with – This creamy shrimp dip pairs well savory dippers like crackers, toasted bread, pretzels, and chips, as well as sliced veggies such as cucumbers, celery, and carrots.
- Storage – Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Do not leave out at room temperature for more than 2 hours when serving.
